Playdoh Tips and Tricks

Image
My kids love to play with Playdoh. We haven't played with it for a while, so when i pulled it out they were so excited. They sat and played quietly for an hour and a half! I couldn't believe it! They got along and had a great time playing. I noticed that the reason they were so good is because they had important "tools" to help them stay busy. They really didn't need me and were self entertained. We have a lot of accessories with Playdoh but they only play with 2-3 essentials.  They are: 1. The roller is just a mini rolling pin. It came in a kit with cutters, but I have seen cut up PVC pipe used and it works great.  2. The ruler's edge is great for cutting the Playdoh chunks.  3. The scissors are great for cutting the Playdoh in pieces. My 3 year old is learning how to use scissors and this is great way for her to practice holding and using scissors.  Other things that make it easier for my kids to play is, they only get to...

Play Food Bucket

Image
For Christmas one year, grandma gave Sadie a lot of play food. I had to weed some of it down to the very favorites and put the rest away. But is doesn't matter, it is still everywhere. There are so many pieces! So I ran to the dollar store and picked out a bucket and put some cute vinyl letter on the front.  I love how it turned out! It was simple to make. I picked out the font I liked in my Silhouette Studio, cut, weed, and applied. A few things I learned: 1. Just because it is a cute bucket doesn't mean the food will always be inside. 2. I learned how to curve the font after I made this (should have learned before) 3. The dollar store is the best place for picking up kid toy organizers. I hope you can make one too! If you do please share with me, I'd love to see it! Have a great day!

Organization: Self

Image
All week long I have shown how I keep my small home organized. I buy bins from dollar stores, put things back, clean, and label. I have saved the best for last! How to keep yourself organized! It's a secret everyone is wanting to know, the climax is building, but here it is, Do what makes you happy! I have a good Idea of how my week is going to be and what I want my days to be like. I exercise in the morning and take a Pilates class once a week. When I come home I read my scriptures, or if you don't want to do that, read an uplifting book for a few minutes. Always get ready for the day! Shower, put on make-up, do that hair, I can't tell you how many times I wanted to just sit and stare at the wall and do nothing. Yes it is OK to take a break every once in a while and do nothing, but do get ready! Make that bed!! I make mine everyday and I feel so much better knowing I have one room cleaned in my house! Last, but not least, do something that makes you happy! I don...

Organization: Kitchen

Image
I love being in my kitchen. Baking, crafting, gathering, and dancing, whatever it is everything happens in my kitchen. Like most kitchens, I have dishes, glasses, Pyrex dishes and mixing bowls in the cupboards. Silverware, measuring cups, and cooking utensils in the drawers. And a Lazy Suzan to place the bulk of the food, but I have two small cupboards that I have to fit the rest in.   We have limited counter space, so when I am done using something I have to put it back. Appliances are in a corner cupboard. How it all fits I don't know, but I am glad. Check back tomorrow for the last one!!

Organization: Bathroom

Image
My bathroom is small, so, I have to keep it clean and organize. I have room under the sink for cleaning supplies, a medicine cabinet for medicine, and a build in storage closet for everything else. The Bins I bought at the dollar store. It consists of washcloths, hubby things, baby cleaning stuff, and famine products Yes I have a drawer dedicated to all of my stuff! Hair, odds and ends and blowdryer, makeup and curling tools.  What are some ways you keep your bathroom clean and Organized?

Oragnization: File Folder Box

Image
If your house is like our there are papers everywhere. Some belong in a scrapbook, in a file folder, or just in the trash. I try very hard to keep our house, and desk organized but sometimes that doesn't happen. To condense the mess, I put important papers in a file folder box. It is alphabetized and everything is at my finger tips. The labels I have are: Baby Growth-this includes the papers the pediatrician gives me Church-probably the biggest includes, coloring books, talks, Articles of Faith, and parts of my calling Colt's work/school Gym/fitness Home-the lovely book we signed when we bought our house Insurance-car and home Life Insurance Lindsay's School/work Medical-records, insurance and bills Mersadie's Health Projects Taxes-this in in two different folders *Keep for 7 years!* Work Expenses I keep extra folders in the back and long papers in the bottom. Check back tomorrow for a bathroom organization!

Organization: Hall Closet

Image
A week of organization!! Living in a small house, it needs to stay straight! For starters, the hall closet! I live in a small older home, and I just don't have a lot of room! So, my house needs to stay organized. I have no pantry, and one closet for cleaning supplies and house "stuff." As you can see, tall on one side, stuff in bins (that are labeled) and tools below. Miscellaneous stuff goes up tops, like light bulbs, iron, etc. In the bins are dusters, shoe care, food saver bags, and wires and cables. Look tomorrow for more organization.

I love watching Sadie grow during this first year. She is getting bigger and bigger. I have found different ways to document your little bambino growing as well! A monthly picture! Here are some of the different ideas that I have found: One outfit all at different times Add what they have accomplished during that month Or just how old they are! If you don't want to paint one wall in your house chalkboard, then you can paint a cupboard door, like I did! I have also seen scrapbook paper with the month, a post-it, alphabet letters above the head, and much more! Check out my Pintrest board for more ideas on baby bumps and monthly pictures here ! Journals: Baby

Image
Lately I have been feeling the need to journal everything. Probably because my great grandparents and grandparents have given me nothing of their lives other than cookware and dishes! (I want pictures and stories.) First of all, I have several journals I have kept throughout the years. Second, I have multiple ways of keeping memories. Today I am showing you what I have done for my Sadie. When I was pregnant, I had a lot  of ultrasounds. We moved from St. George to Ogden and I doubled by ultrasound pictures! So I made a flip book! It was simple. I cut the paper the size I wanted (6x6) Printed on clear labels dates, and what the pictures are. Next, I made a Sutterfly book of her first month. Including hospital pictures and newborn pics. Shutterfly sent me serval free book coupons for just having a baby! Love looking through this. Last but not least, I document milestones Sadie accomplishes in memory journal. I found this one at Wal-Mart. I write in it mont...

Stock up and Save

Image
I love stocking up on things I think it is Fabulous! My one stop shop for stocking up is Costco! Yes I know it is great for big families that have four or more kids, but believe me it's great for two as well. I have been shopping at Costco since I was first married. Not sure if it is because I was used to going there with my mom to shop for our big family or what but I love it. I have never bought electronics, candy, or bedding there the things I buy are items we use everyday!  This is just a list of what I buy Toilet Paper Paper Towels Laundry Soap Dishwasher Soap Frozen Chicken Hamburger Bread Formula Graham Cracker Toothpaste Femmine Products Deodorant Shampoo/Conditioner  Diapers Wipes Soap The chicken and hamburger I vacuum seal in my food saver and put in the freezer. Baby stuff and femmine products are stuff I hate buying every time I need them. They never expire (expect the baby food) and I can have tons on hand at once.  What a...

Label it!

Image
Labels are the Best! I wish I had my own label maker, but I am sure I would drive my family crazy! So for now my Circut will do! Here is what I have done with it: Yes that's right I put all the formula in a container! Works so much better! I am also labeling my seasonings! I get my seasonings at WinCo! It is cheaper and I can get canisters so much cheaper that buying it down the baking isle! Did I mention it is Cheaper! If you have a WinCo go and use it up!! Before Label After Labeling!! The label maker I borrowed! (And yes I am driving my husband crazy!)

Family Home Evening Binder

Image
Sorry I haven't posted things for a while, I have been helping my family move, and in the mean time found a great project to work on. My mom had some really old Friend Magazines. I took them and remembered the Idea I saw from Printrest. The magazines where taken apart and categorized for FHE. The link is here . I modified it to fit my needs, and to make it fit in one binder. First is the Fun Stuff  Then the Proclamation to the World  Articles of faith  Tabs to organize it The front of the stories Pioneer Stories New Testament Stories Christmas Easter The middle of the magazines there was board games that I glued to file folders I love my Laminator and When I saw the cards for the board games, had to laminate them!  Sites I got stuff from: lds.org  Scriptures Stories Articles Of Faith Just remember you don't have to reinvent FHE it is already easy and ready for you! Enjoy!
