A few of my favorite things...

Image
I can't believe summer will be over! The kids are back in school, the air is crisp, and the storms have started. But as the seasons change, I can't help but look back to the last year and feel so blessed. Though we have no money and we are struggling, we have done and seen some great adventures, and the year isn't over yet. I have learned a few things my favorite things include. One, is this jewel came into my life and held onto my heart. She is the reason I get up in the morning (literally!) I can't imagine my life without her! Two is this guy! He makes me laugh when I really don't want to! He helps me calm down, and knows how to encourage me to keep going. I love him more and more. I couldn't of asked for a better best friend! Third, my scriptures. Yes I might get a little religious on you, but it is who I am! I love reading my scriptures I have such a better day and I am nicer to everyone, especially my family! I love going to church and learning...

Fitness: Workouts

Image
I am a collector of workouts. I have printed them out and laminated them once (I still have them) and took them to the gym with me. You don't need a personal trainer to make  your workout burn! I have paid for a trainer, done the videos, machines, classes and whatever else you can think of! I have done it all. I have learned what works great for me. Create a workout. I have found Body Building . Scroll down till you find Exercises by Body Part. Click the ones you want and create your own.  Body Rock . She is free P90X. She is hard core. Be prepared to get you butt kicked. Fitness Magazine is one of the best to collect. They have inspirational stories and great workouts.   You don't have to spend a lot, to get the results that you want. Be smart and happy workout! What are your favorite exercises?

Fitness: Clothing

Image
Black yoga pants are my favorite. I change my clothes in the middle of the day just to be in them. They are comfortable. When exercising, the clothes that are worn should be comfy. I bought my clothes at Wal-mart, which has worked out really well for me. I have friends that love lululemon  and Nike. Amazon is also a great place to get clothing as well. When picking out clothing, make sure that it stretches with you, fit comfortably and is breathable. Don't wear clothing that is too tight, too warm or too small. Must have exercise clothing:  Running shoes, or just tennis shoes pants, capris or shorts sports bra t-shirt, or top elastic hair tie Now for shoes. I have izumi pearl running shoes! I love them. I learned that your shoes should be the most comfortable clothing you wear. Your feet shouldn't slip in and out of them, the laces shouldn't be tight, and make sure to untie the shoe laces before pulling out your foot. What is your favorite clothin...

Fitness Week: Food

Image
Let's be honest, food is personal. Secretly I rather eat a snickers than cut an apple. It's just easier. I cook meals that are easy and convenient. But, for some people it isn't as personal. They have trained themselves to eat the salad and not the burger. Either way it plays into fitness. I have found, when I eat more vegetables and fruit, I am not as hungry. I stay full longer. When I down a bag of chips, I am constantly hungry. Does anyone else feel this way? Well for loosing weight I have found a couple tools that have helped me.  One, is a calorie counter. I love My Fitness Pal . I can keep track of my food and exercise, do my own weigh ins and check my progress. It is on the computer and on my phone. I am never without it.  Two, I have found one of the greatest books called Eat This, Not That. It is loaded with all yummy, healthy, make your own food.  I have labeled mine in different categories which are: Healthy Snacks: Trail mix, smoothies, gr...

Health week!

Image
I have decided to post about health week. I have learned a lot about being healthy and have applied it in my life, to some degree. So what motivates me to get going? Two things. One, each time I look at an picture of myself now vs. when I was younger. So is about being thin, flirty and fabulous! NO! It's about feeling better about myself. Who doesn't want that? When I look in the mirror I want to feel fabulous! Two, I want to keep up with my busy-body child. So how does one achieve this? First, grab that calendar! Write down days that allow you to work out. If it's early in the morning or in the late night, it does not matter. When you write it down, don't just put "workout" put what you want to do for your workout. Here is an example: Now you can use this, or you can tailor it to you and your schedule. I personally take two days rest one on Sunday and one on Wednesday. If this looks overwhelming, then scale it back. Do cardio one day and weights t...

Organization: Self

Image
All week long I have shown how I keep my small home organized. I buy bins from dollar stores, put things back, clean, and label. I have saved the best for last! How to keep yourself organized! It's a secret everyone is wanting to know, the climax is building, but here it is, Do what makes you happy! I have a good Idea of how my week is going to be and what I want my days to be like. I exercise in the morning and take a Pilates class once a week. When I come home I read my scriptures, or if you don't want to do that, read an uplifting book for a few minutes. Always get ready for the day! Shower, put on make-up, do that hair, I can't tell you how many times I wanted to just sit and stare at the wall and do nothing. Yes it is OK to take a break every once in a while and do nothing, but do get ready! Make that bed!! I make mine everyday and I feel so much better knowing I have one room cleaned in my house! Last, but not least, do something that makes you happy! I don...

Must Have Apps

Image
I love my iPhone! I can't believe I have gone so long without it! I had an Android which had apps that I liked on it, but when I got my new phone there was so much to choose from! So I have made a list of my top five favorite apps! Instagram! Who doesn't love Instagram! I love how I can change the filters, use text, and share with Twitter and Facebook through Instagram! Not only that but I can upload them to my photo book. Which leads me to... Shutterfly! They are so convient. I can take pictures and automatically upload them to my Shutterfly account! I can get on the computer whenever I want and I am set to work on my family album.  My Baby/My pregnancy. Baby Center is a life saver especially for this first time mom. It tracks my baby growth and what I should be expecting next. It has reminders for doctors appointments and what I should be looking for in my baby! I love it! This one is for mostly women, a Period tracker. I don't know about anyone el...

General Conference

Image
Just because General Conference is over doesn't mean it can be forgotten about! There are several ways that you can review General Conference! Listen or watch on your computer! Click  here  to get to the website! Listen while you exercise! I do this while I am on the treadmill and I get through 2-3 talks by the time I am done! While you listen follow along in the Ensign. Highlight points that stand out to you. Write personal revelation you received while listening. If you took notes durning conference review your notes and see what you can add to them. (The notes I printed were from sugardoodle.net)  Whatever method you choose, will make your day ten times brighter! What do you do to remember General Conference?

Fitness

Image
I am sure fitness makes some people uncomfortable, but not me! I love working out and getting what I need for the day! Ok this isn't a post about how much you should do, and I am not trying to make anyone feel bad. What I am saying is the minium is better than sitting in front of the tv. Here are some things you can try! Go to the gym. I love going to my gym. No men there waiting for me to get off of their machines. I usually do the elliptical, and the machines. One day I will work my arms and the next my legs. I always work my core! Don't worry if you can't go to the gym. Home DVD's are available and they are just as good. Tae-Bo was a constant video in our home that we wore out the VHS. Jillian Michaels has great DVD's as well. Don't want DVD's well you are in luck! There is also free phone apps for fitness. Get on the app store and start downloading. It doesn't get easier than that. Some of the apps that are free are: fitocracy, Sworkit, Ab W...

Be a little better!

Image
Every morning I tell myself just be a little bit better than yesterday! What a stretching goal that is! I have found there are 10 little things that can help. You may do one or you may want to do them all! Play with your children! I can not tell you how much my mood changes when I am on the floor playing with Sadie Do the dishes. A clean kitchen sink makes all the difference Make your bed. I love having my bed made and I have to choose everyday whether I am going to make it or not. I love having all my pillows on the bed looking so perfect Get ready for the day! Nothing beats feeling like a beauty queen when your are getting ready for the day. Read a book that uplifts you! The library is full of books (and is free), neighbors, friends, family all have books that are waiting to be read. Go for a walk. The saying, "Endorphines make you happy, and happy people don't shoot their husbands," is so totally true! I go for a walk and life is better and I don't want to ...
