3 Ingredient Smoothie

Image
Now that summer is here, I love making these yummy refreshing smoothies. With 3 simple ingredients, everyone in the family will loves these. First, grab the goods.  1. Frozen fruit.  I love this fruit mix. It is my very favorite. They have it at Costco as well. I just grabbed a bag from my grocery store and it's great. Also, I find that using frozen fruit means that I don't have to add ice. 2. Yogurt.  I have tried many different yogurts and I find I like this one the best. I buy it big so my kids can enjoy a bowl of yogurt as well. 3. Coconut water. I found that juice is too sugary and sweet. I didn't like the extra sweetness and wanted something a little more healthy. Ok so now lets mix!! In the blender: 2 Cups frozen fruit 1/2 cup yogurt 3/4 bottle of coconut water Blend till smooth. Add water in as needed. Start off with 1/4 then add more as you mix to get the right consistency.   Pour in cups and enjoy!

Summer Treat!!

Image
I love summer treats. The popsicles, ice cream cones, slushies, smoothies, whatever it is I love them. But, sometimes the treats are not always healthy. I came across this summer treat from a family friend, and I am going to share it with you today! I call it Nut Melody. What you need is: almonds cashews sunflower seeds (shelled) pumpkin seeds (shelled) mini chocolate chips flax seed grinned First, buy your nuts raw. I buy mine at Kitchen Kneads in Ogden.  When you get it all home, wash the nuts and seeds (you never know what is on them.) --Make sure you dry them.  Next, place the nuts on a cookie sheet, turn on oven to 200 and bake the nuts for 15 minutes.  When that is done, place in a Ziplock bag or in a container big enough, and mix all the ingredients together. The mini chocolate chips gives a hint of sweetness and the rest it just scrumptious.  Happy Friday!!

Play Doh!!

Image
I love play doh, I have since I was a kid! (I smashed it in my moms carpet once) I love the feel the smell  and the bright colors! I found a recipe to make homemade play doh! Here it is: 2 Cups Flour 4 tsp. cream of tartar 2 Cups water 1 Cup salt 2 Tbsp oil Cook over medium heat, stir constantly. As mixture thickens and is too hard to stir, remove from heat and pan and kneed. divide and add food coloring   When it came out of the pan! It was so simple to make! What also makes this fun is PVC pipe to roll out, tongue depressors to cut and cookie cutters.  I keep it in a tupperware container to keep it from drying out.

Need a dinner Idea? I have the perfect one for you and your family! Kids loves these, and you can get as creative as you want. Homemade hot pockets! Love these! First make pizza dough, roll it out on a baking sheet, cut slits on the long sides, and put in the toppings, down the middle. I do pizza, and ham and cheese hot pockets. Fold the cut ends over in the middle, pinch and let raise about as long as your oven heats up. Bake at 350 for 25 min. Get creative with it. Make a veggie one, one with all your favorite pizza toppings, do ham, turkey, cheese, whatever you want in your hot pocket! Pizza Dough: 3 Cups Warm Water 2 TBS. Yeast 2 TBS Oil 1/4 Cup Sugar 1/2 tsp. Salt 3 Cups Flour (I use more like 5 1/2) Makes two hot pockets! Let raise for about 1/2 hour Ham and Cheese Pizza Hot Pocket
