Summer Treat!!

Image
I love summer treats. The popsicles, ice cream cones, slushies, smoothies, whatever it is I love them. But, sometimes the treats are not always healthy. I came across this summer treat from a family friend, and I am going to share it with you today! I call it Nut Melody. What you need is: almonds cashews sunflower seeds (shelled) pumpkin seeds (shelled) mini chocolate chips flax seed grinned First, buy your nuts raw. I buy mine at Kitchen Kneads in Ogden.  When you get it all home, wash the nuts and seeds (you never know what is on them.) --Make sure you dry them.  Next, place the nuts on a cookie sheet, turn on oven to 200 and bake the nuts for 15 minutes.  When that is done, place in a Ziplock bag or in a container big enough, and mix all the ingredients together. The mini chocolate chips gives a hint of sweetness and the rest it just scrumptious.  Happy Friday!!

This in one of the easiest dinner ever! A crock pot and three ingredients and BAM! You have dinner! 1. Dig out that ol' crock pot 2. Pour Salsa in the bottom 3. Place chicken 4. Cover with salsa 5. Walk away! You'll know when it's done by how easy the chicken shreds apart. You can add a little more salsa if you would like and your done! I love eating it with chips and the man of the home likes to eat it burrito style. Just however you prefer!

Need a dinner Idea? I have the perfect one for you and your family! Kids loves these, and you can get as creative as you want. Homemade hot pockets! Love these! First make pizza dough, roll it out on a baking sheet, cut slits on the long sides, and put in the toppings, down the middle. I do pizza, and ham and cheese hot pockets. Fold the cut ends over in the middle, pinch and let raise about as long as your oven heats up. Bake at 350 for 25 min. Get creative with it. Make a veggie one, one with all your favorite pizza toppings, do ham, turkey, cheese, whatever you want in your hot pocket! Pizza Dough: 3 Cups Warm Water 2 TBS. Yeast 2 TBS Oil 1/4 Cup Sugar 1/2 tsp. Salt 3 Cups Flour (I use more like 5 1/2) Makes two hot pockets! Let raise for about 1/2 hour Ham and Cheese Pizza Hot Pocket
