Playdoh Tips and Tricks

Image
My kids love to play with Playdoh. We haven't played with it for a while, so when i pulled it out they were so excited. They sat and played quietly for an hour and a half! I couldn't believe it! They got along and had a great time playing. I noticed that the reason they were so good is because they had important "tools" to help them stay busy. They really didn't need me and were self entertained. We have a lot of accessories with Playdoh but they only play with 2-3 essentials.  They are: 1. The roller is just a mini rolling pin. It came in a kit with cutters, but I have seen cut up PVC pipe used and it works great.  2. The ruler's edge is great for cutting the Playdoh chunks.  3. The scissors are great for cutting the Playdoh in pieces. My 3 year old is learning how to use scissors and this is great way for her to practice holding and using scissors.  Other things that make it easier for my kids to play is, they only get to...

Mustache Tattoo

Image
I love my Silhouette Cameo and one of my favorite projects that I have done is make mustache tattoos. Today I will show you how to make temporary tattoos.  First, select the design you. With Silhouette Design Studio, there is an endless supply of designs. Place registration marks, this will help to know where to put the design. Copy and paste as many as you would like, offset the design (this will give it the outline to cut, if you prefer). Print on the white paper of the  printable Tattoo paper  .  **If you have typed words, as in the example below, be sure to mirror your image** Once printed, place the clear sticker sheet on top, place on mat, and cut out the shape. Place on desired area with a wet cloth for 20 seconds. The paper will slide off and your image will remain! My kids thought these where the greatest things! We Played all afternoon with our fake mustaches.  These are great for kids birthday parties, family get...

He's Here!

Image
He came, He finally came! Of course that was four weeks ago but none the less he came. It was a Friday night and I was feeling some contractions and before 6 am on Saturday July 19 I had him. He is perfect! I am only writing about now because we have had baby blessings, weddings, bridal showers, birthdays, and anything else in between. But our sweet baby boy is here!

Pictures!

Image
I love to take pictures! I take them all day long. On my Nikon Camera and on my phone. Along the way I have found a couple things that help me take great pictures. Lighting. Open the blinds, go outside and get as much natural light as you can.  Take pictures of moments you don't want to forget. I hate it when my phone is dead or my camera is not around and I have to use my husbands phone. I don't want the picture on his phone I want it on mine.  Which brings me to 3. I am selfish with pictures. If they are of my kid, I want a copy. Don't be afraid to ask for a copy of the picture.  If you want to print you pictures, find a good printing company. Walgreens, Costco, Sam's Club are all great local ones. (Me and Walmart have disagreements.) For GREAT looking pictures go to Shutterfly , or  Persnickety Prints . Back up those pictures!!! I can't stress that enough. I back mine up on CD's and on an external hard drive.  Last but not least, Have fun taking t...

Weekend Fun!

Image
Our weekends fly bye and because they do we try to make the best of them. Look around your area and try and find things that are unique to you. For example we a fresh water spring in our community. My husband has loved going to it since he was a little boy and calls it the tree of life! I also have come up with 10 fun free things to do with your kids, regardless of age! Backyard campfire/or campout: Pitch that tent and build a fire! As a kid, me and my brothers loved sleeping outside, and now we love having a campfire. Backyard movie. Pick a family favorite (Sandlot, Hook, Rookie of the Year, Cars, Toy Story etc.) Blow up an air mattress and watch that movie Drive Inn Style. Walking trails or Hiking Trails. Living in Ogden we have so many trails around our beautiful mountains. Easy, medium or hard trails are everywhere. Go to the park. Get those kiddos exercising. Swinging, slides, climbing, chasing, the list is endless. Feeding Ducks. I have 2 duck ponds close to me, and ye...

Baby's 1st Year!

Image
I love watching Sadie grow during this first year. She is getting bigger and bigger. I have found different ways to document your little bambino growing as well! A monthly picture! Here are some of the different ideas that I have found: One outfit all at different times Add what they have accomplished during that month Or just how old they are! If you don't want to paint one wall in your house chalkboard, then you can paint a cupboard door, like I did! I have also seen scrapbook paper with the month, a post-it, alphabet letters above the head, and much more! Check out my Pintrest board for more ideas on baby bumps and monthly pictures here ! Journals: Baby

Image
Lately I have been feeling the need to journal everything. Probably because my great grandparents and grandparents have given me nothing of their lives other than cookware and dishes! (I want pictures and stories.) First of all, I have several journals I have kept throughout the years. Second, I have multiple ways of keeping memories. Today I am showing you what I have done for my Sadie. When I was pregnant, I had a lot  of ultrasounds. We moved from St. George to Ogden and I doubled by ultrasound pictures! So I made a flip book! It was simple. I cut the paper the size I wanted (6x6) Printed on clear labels dates, and what the pictures are. Next, I made a Sutterfly book of her first month. Including hospital pictures and newborn pics. Shutterfly sent me serval free book coupons for just having a baby! Love looking through this. Last but not least, I document milestones Sadie accomplishes in memory journal. I found this one at Wal-Mart. I write in it mont...

My Hand so Tiny, So small!

Image
For this Mother's Day I made the play doh, pressed Sadie's hand in it, baked it and gave it to my mothers. It was a huge it! It will work for anything occasion for your mother. Grandparents day, birthday, Christmas or just for fun. I used a marker for the writing and a paperclip in the top to hang it by. Yes I did put the wrong date! But it still works! Happy Creating!
