Summer Happenings

Image
I tend to loose my crafting side during the summer. I get so caught up in all the summer activities and kind of forget about crafting. Don't get me wrong, every once in a while I sit down and create a card or a birthday banner (I have two birthdays in July).  "What have I been up to?" you might ask. Well let me show you!! First, we went on a day trip to Red Fish lake. It is gorgeous and I am so anxious to go back. A day was not long enough. It wasn't even a day. It was more like a 3 hour car ride for maybe 1 hour of being there. Have to try that again. The next week, Colt and I took our cute little family camping. We had fun swimming at the Payette Lake, and the Gold Fork Hot springs. We drove all over the mountains and fell in love. I am ready to go back out and go camping. I'm not so sure Colt is though. He did an amazing job of taking all of us. He never complained and was happy to be with us.  I did do a craft t...

Happy Camper

Image
Colt and I decided to take our family on a day adventure to Colorado Springs. We went to the Garden of the Gods, the Seven Falls and the ever best Rudy's BBQ. We had so much fun together. While we were at one of the visitors centers I saw this amazing "Happy Camper" Bag. All I could think was that I had all the tools to make one myself. So I did. (Natural crafter) I am going to show you how easy it is to make your own bag. Let's get started!! Supplies: Canvas material Cording for handles coordinating thread Silhouettes Stencil Material fabric paint  foam brush Designs: Trailer #30955 Happy #45410 LW Genius Font If you choose to make your bag, you can follow this easy tutorial here . It from danamadeit.com. (Her sewing tutorials are my favorite.) If you don't want to make your own, no worries. craft stores have pre-made bags. Once you determine the size of the bag that you are making, go ahead and make your design that size.   ...

July

Image
I have been waiting for July to come for 9 beautiful months now. I can't believe that it is already here! I have loved summer so far. June was perfect weather, especially for Utah. It was in the 70's and never left. 4th of July came and 100 decided that it needed to greet us. I have never been hotter in my life! So up to the lake we went. We played in the water, Sadie built a sandcastle with Uncle Moe and Auntie Kinz. It was perfect. I love when family comes together for fires, s'mores, swimming, boating, and camping. It is my favorite thing. What are your favorite summer activities?

We made it!

Image
We made it through our holiday adventure! As a family we went up to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho! We tubed the river, went to the foam fest, watched fireworks some of us slept, played bingo, went fishing and ate S'mores. We had a great time being together as a family! What did you do for the 4th of July?

Summer Treat!!

Image
I love summer treats. The popsicles, ice cream cones, slushies, smoothies, whatever it is I love them. But, sometimes the treats are not always healthy. I came across this summer treat from a family friend, and I am going to share it with you today! I call it Nut Melody. What you need is: almonds cashews sunflower seeds (shelled) pumpkin seeds (shelled) mini chocolate chips flax seed grinned First, buy your nuts raw. I buy mine at Kitchen Kneads in Ogden.  When you get it all home, wash the nuts and seeds (you never know what is on them.) --Make sure you dry them.  Next, place the nuts on a cookie sheet, turn on oven to 200 and bake the nuts for 15 minutes.  When that is done, place in a Ziplock bag or in a container big enough, and mix all the ingredients together. The mini chocolate chips gives a hint of sweetness and the rest it just scrumptious.  Happy Friday!!

Camping with the Babes!

Image
This last weekend we had a blast going camping at Cherry Hills and Swimming at Cowabunga Bay! It was a great start to a fabulous summer! I am, however, grateful that we did a trial run of camping with Sadie. She slept horribly, was a little cranky and I learned that I need to pack more thoroughly! I have come up with a list of needed items to have for baby. Clothes Outfits Pj's Swimsuit and towel Blankets (3) Towel and washcloth Shampoo Lotion Formula Bottles Spoons Baby Food Pack and Play Sippy Cups Diapers Wipes toys bibs I also have some camping gear that not everyone has but I would recommend getting:  Formula Divider  Camping High Chair (total life saver). If you don't have a high chair a bumbo will work also! If you are looking for a list of what to pack your self as well than check out Happier Happenings blog ! Weekend Fun!

Image
Our weekends fly bye and because they do we try to make the best of them. Look around your area and try and find things that are unique to you. For example we a fresh water spring in our community. My husband has loved going to it since he was a little boy and calls it the tree of life! I also have come up with 10 fun free things to do with your kids, regardless of age! Backyard campfire/or campout: Pitch that tent and build a fire! As a kid, me and my brothers loved sleeping outside, and now we love having a campfire. Backyard movie. Pick a family favorite (Sandlot, Hook, Rookie of the Year, Cars, Toy Story etc.) Blow up an air mattress and watch that movie Drive Inn Style. Walking trails or Hiking Trails. Living in Ogden we have so many trails around our beautiful mountains. Easy, medium or hard trails are everywhere. Go to the park. Get those kiddos exercising. Swinging, slides, climbing, chasing, the list is endless. Feeding Ducks. I have 2 duck ponds close to me, and ye...
